Officials: At Least 4 Dead, 27 Injured in Ariz. Crash
PHOENIX A pickup truck carrying 31 people crashed and rolled in a remote area in central Arizona on Sunday morning, killing four.
Pinal County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Vanessa White says 18 survivors were airlifted to Phoenix and Tucson area hospitals. Nine were taken by ambulance.
White did not know the conditions of any of the patients.
She says speed, inattention and possibly alcohol are believed to be factors in the 8 a.m. crash near the town of Arizona City, about 60 miles south of Phoenix.
White did not know whether the pickup had a cab.
Authorities are looking into the immigration status of the group.
