Middle School Bus Flips Over, No Major Injuries

RIVERDALE, Md. A school bus carrying middle school students flipped over onto its side Wednesday in the Washington, D.C., area, but no one was injured seriously in the spill.

There were conflicting reports about how lots of were hurt in the roll-over accident and the number of kids along for the ride.

A spokesman from the D.C. police told FOX News that 15 to 18 students were on the bus, and only one was taken to the hospital with back injuries. The driver had the most serious injuries of anyone on board, but they were not life-threatening, authorities said.

The remaining 37 people were being transported to an hospital for evaluation, said fire spokesman Mark Brady.

Prince George’s County Public Schools spokesman John White told the AP that the students were on their way to William Wirt Middle School in Riverdale when the crash occurred about 9 a.m. EST just a few blocks from the school.

Four Minnesota students were killed in a Feb. 19 school bus crash, and a Guatemalan woman illegally driving the van that plowed into them has been charged with homicide.
