U.S. attorney general visits Guantanamo Bay
WASHINGTON (CNN) U.S. Attorney General Michael Mukasey arrived Wednesday for his first look at the controversial military prison complex at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.
U.S. Attorney General Michael Mukasey was set to meet with officials involved in military commission proceedings.
Mukasey’s visit was expected to last about five hours.

Dutch, U.S. team up in cocaine seizure
ORANJESTAD, Aruba (AP) — The Dutch Navy said it has joined with the U.S. to seize 4.6 tons (4,200 kilograms) of cocaine from a Panamanian-flagged freighter that had set sail from Venezuela.
The Dutch Navy said it is the largest haul of cocaine it has ever intercepted.

Ancient temple used by Incas discovered
LIMA, Peru (AP) Archaeologists have discovered the ruins of an ancient temple, roadway and irrigation systems at a famed fortress overlooking the Inca capital of Cuzco, according to officials involved with the dig.
The site had religious as well as military aims, including 11 rooms thought to have held mummies and idols.
Migrants’ bodies found near Bahamas

Cuba deports U.S. fugitive in sex crime case
HAVANA, Cuba (CNN) — The Cuban government has handed over to U.S. authorities a California man facing federal child sex crime charges, Cuba’s Foreign Ministry said Friday.
Leonard B. Auerbach, 61, an Orinda, California, mortgage broker, was deported Friday to the United States, the ministry said in an statement.
Chilean leader signs law on pensions for poor
SANTIAGO, Chile (AP) Some 600,000 poor Chileans will receive monthly pensions starting in July under a law signed Tuesday by President Michelle Bachelet that plugs gaps in Chile’s widely copied private pension system.
